a newbie by any standard, i am curious how far a 32-2 will go with 15 gallons of fuel and a 5416 universal diesel--w/ two bladed prop. 1,000 rpm seems to move the boat along quite nicely at about 5+ knots). . .so while a few more rpm might increase the speed somewhat, at 1,000 rpms that engine is not even breathing hard and the hull is well within limits. so the setup should be exceptionally efficient.
looking at the universal literature the engine is burning about .4 gallons per hour @ 1,000 rpm, in theory.
so 15 gallons @ .4 gph = 37.5 hours @ 6 mph = about 225 miles. . . but in reality?
