Hawai'i in the Hurricane Path

This is the one real danger of the Hawai'i cruise--hurricanes.

Changing environmental conditions mean more they move north more aggressively than formerly. Even safely in a harbor in Hawaii, the potential to lose the boat exists. There are no tidal flatlands to hide in, nor even good anchorages set anchors and dig in. Storm surge can submerge the docks, since there is normally very little rise and fall of tide

Yeah, I've been watching that one.

I've a good friend who does weather-routing for high-end racing programs (plus, grew up on Kaua'i)... he was sounding optimistic yesterday that it would only be a "glancing" blow but today says that Lane is gaining energy... trough to the northwest is weakening, cool clouds creating more temperature differential. Doesn't sound good.
