A4 carb throttle connection

Have installed and adjusted new carb (with fantastic and amazingly patient coaching/encouragement from David (Emerald) - thanks, David).
Running smooth.

However, the throttle arm cable connection on the carb is above the pivot.
No option to connect below the pivot as in the old carb (which had both connection options).

So at the helm, to add gas, you pull back on the throttle lever.
Formerly, push forward, which is more intuitive I think.

Not really a big deal, but does anyone know of a fix.
An adapter or something on the carb lever arm to connect below the pivot ?

Thanks

Reversing the action

Different engine, but the principle is the same.
Our new engine came with a throttle lever set up for "pull" rather than "push". There was no apparent way to reverse the action at the top of the binnacle so we did it at the engine.
Beta provides a reversing linkage for this, but it was poorly engineered for our particular model, so our installer (with his machine shop...) built a new bracket and did use part of the Beta assembly. He build a longer connecting link that goes to the throttle lever just forward of the view in this picture.

It works smooth as silk, BTW.

Loren thanks,

Old carb on the right below.
New carb on the left.

Note that the new carb does not have an extension and connection point below the pivot.
But the old carb does (as does the one in your picture)

Is it necessary to have one welded on?

Switch shafts

If I remember correctly (doubtful at times) isn't it possible to unscrew the throttle plate and remove the shaft from the old carb and move it to the new one?

Or if you can remove that throttle arm and invert it 180 degrees and reinstall it. That will make the correction you desire if you can do it.

reversing seems like the way to go. but how do you get the shaft out ? what holds it in place ?

Throttle plate

There should be two screws holding the throttle plate on to shaft. Take those screws out and the shaft should slide out.
