Hi All!

I need a bit of help. I need to replace my prop on my 1978 Ericson 27 and I cant determine which prop would be best. What do you recommend?

Its powered by an atomic 4 gas engine :)

Thanks!
Chris

I think this is another one of those "it depends" questions. Supposedly, the Indigo prop is designed specifically to get the best performance from the Atomic 4, which would be a good thing if you have to motor long distances. Die-hard racers would probably want something with less drag, like maybe a folding prop.

I wen to a Martec

When I repowered with a Yanmar... I removed the two bladed prop and went with a Martec (used) which I shopped long and hard for, but Got at a great price.
I replaced all the pins and the pivots with parts from Martec.

Been using it for the last 14 years with no issues.

As to the Size of the Prop the old Atomic 4 turned a 12x6 Left Handed Prop on a 3/4 in shaft
The Yanmar is turning a 14 x 10 Right Handed Prop on a one inch shaft.
I tried 14 X 12 and it was just a little to much prop and the yanmar could not get up to sweet spot for RPMS
