Wanted: Nice clean Ericson 38

I know, everyone wants a nice clean Ericson 38.

I have been waffling for a long time and passed on a couple I should probably have bought. It's time to get serious.

We live in Seattle so of course the PNW would be ideal, but I am getting more and more used to the concept of shipping / delivering the right boat one from afar.

Anyone ready to sell their baby? Time to go to the dark side?

Can't blame a guy for trying...

Howdy,

I just saw this one here in MD yesterday (looks like a shoal keel):

and saw this one on Lake Champlain just now when I was copying the link above:

Don't know anything about them but the pictures look nice.

I shipped my E36RH from Santa Barbara and would do it again even though the expense was hard to swallow and my price range was about half that of a nice E38. I only had 32 hulls to chose from and I had been looking for 3 years.

You just need to ask yourself, is the boat nice enough that you would pay the total cost (boat plus shipping) for the same boat if it were available locally. Your only other choice is to wait for a nice one to come available locally. How long do you want to wait?

Good hunting,

Mark

Tired of waiting...

Yep, tired of waiting. Though shipping from the west coast is certainly more reasonable than Maryland!

If you find one on the west coast, don't discount a delivery skipper vs. truck shipping if you are on a budget. This is pretty common on the east coast with the ICW, not sure about going north on the west coast. You'll have to decide if the engine hours and wear and tear are worth the savings. I'd try to get onboard for part at least of the trip, just for the experience.

I could say something cute like Christian has his all fixed up the way he wants it so he should be getting ready to sell. But I won't.

False alarm...

My alarm that has the words "Christian" and "sell" went off... apparently a false positive. :esad:

I think Will Patten’s is still for sale though if you take it away from lake Champlain you also take away my hope that someday she might be mine.
