Today's Exciting Nautical Tool Challenge

It came with the boat, and I have prized it since. Robust, chrome-plated, heavy. Handle wrapped in duct tape, so clearly lovingly used.

Some sort of specialty yacht chisel, or FRP tamping device. Or better yet, a caulking iron. Perhaps the former owner had wooden boat, and spent his Saturday pounding oakum.

Flashy and heavy. If I knew what it was, maybe I could use it. Why, the feel in the hand just sorta forces you to work with it, as the best tools do.

Embossed on the blade is "Roberts--Japan" and the tool design number.

I looked it up, and it was like peering into the past of the previous owner's personal life, and seeing one of the personal projects that define us.

Thats not the smell of fiberglass my friend, that’s the smell of the sweet petroleum based nectar of Dalton, Georgia’s millions of carpet roles. Now if you can only find the previous owners kick-tool!
