Batten Storage

Now that the sails are down, I kept tripping over and cursing the mainsail battens, the longest of which won't stow in any single compartment on the boat. Leave it to the smarter half of this crew to come up with a better idea:

Works great, couldn't be simpler.

Batten Storage 2

Here is how I store my two longest mainsail battens. My longest is about 12 feet long. I use four velcro straps to hold them against the ceiling handrail.

I put the battens in the boom. I tape them together and bring the tail end of the tape out the end and stick it to the bottom of the boom. The end of the boom is then taped to keep birds out and the battens in.
