E28+ jib hits spreader

rpm

Anyone else experiencing their jib leech hitting the spreader? Is my post-manufactured jib cut wrong? Might raise the spreader.

I am not sure what you are asking. Most overlapping jibs will come in contact with a spreader tip if trimmed in too tight. That's why many boats have vinyl covers on their tips and added patches on their sails.

Or, just have the trimer keep an eye aloft and not trim it in those last few (expensive...) inches.

Might raise the spreader.

Don't make a structural change to your rig over something which is (probably) a trimming issue or (at worst) a sail-shape issue....

Both are much easier to change.

As far as tuning. Try moving your rail block (for the jib sheet) aft. That will open the top of the sail and pull it away from the spreader.

this will help you point higher too

Moving the lead aft will also help you point higher too.
