YouTube Channel of couple cruising the South Pacific on an E38-200

If you're interested we just launched a YouTube channel with videos from our adventures down here in the South Pacific. So far we only have two videos up but hope to add about one per month. Upcoming episodes will show more about what it's like living/sailing here. As you know living on a boat 24/7/365, always underway or at anchor in super remote areas, is often not the umbrella-drink sandy beach vacation non-sailors imagine. But that's the adventure! Enjoy!

Is there anything in particular any of you would like to see in these videos? For example, the way something is set up or a shot of an Ericson in a particular setting?

Hi Ryan,

I would like to see a boat tour. I think it is an obligatory episode for a cruising vlog ;-). Are you still eating tuna?!

Boat tour is on the list, thank you for the suggestion!

The fish from that video is long gone. It lasted us almost 2 months! If you go to our Facebook page you can see other pics from the trip including a good sized wahoo caught off the Marquesas Islands. facebook.com/twoafloat

Hi,
Great video and great idea! I would like to see a video of different weather conditions you are dealing with and how you and the boat handle those. Especially if you encounter heavier winds and seas.
Thanks again and safe travels!

Will do Frank! We have a short clip coming up in one of our next videos, not the best quality from a photographic standpoint but shows a bit what it's like sailing close hauled in strong winds and into "interesting" waves in between the Tuamotus and the Marquesas islands...

New Video is Up!

This one includes footage from inside our cabin, me climbing the mast using steps, and of a simple mod to the companionway ladder that makes climbing easier. We hope you enjoy! https://youtu.be/4ktBIBoowq8

Next video coming up in about 2 weeks.

Hi Ryan, great blog and Vlog on YouTube!

I was wondering what type of autopilot you were using, is it an under deck unit?

Safe travels!

Cheers,
Kiwi

Hi Kiwi - Glad you like the Vlog/blog! There are a number of other posts in this forum where I go into detail about our autopilots (including one recent thread) but I'll let someone with access to faster internet than here to search for the links if they want... The quick answer is we have two autopilots- A monitor wind vane and an Octopus Hydraulic Linear drive driven by a Simrad "brain" controlled by a Simrad controller or a B&G Zeus2. Both work exceptionally well. Again I go into much more detail in other posts, including pics of the installation. Happy to answer any other questions if you have them (when I have internet access...)
Best,
Ryan

Episode 4 is up! Per your requests we included a more footage of sailing in a variety of conditions. Stay tuned, the next video (in a few weeks) has plenty of footage of some "interesting" conditions in the sometimes tricky pass between Tahiti and Moorea... Enjoy!

New Episode is Up! (and it has a lot of sailing footage as requested)

You asked for it, you got it! Episode 5 is up and based on your requests and feedback it has a lot of footage of sailing in various conditions including close up shots of our MFD so you can see the "numbers" relating to the conditions. There is footage of sailing in everything from nearly flat calm to 30 knots with moderate following seas.

Thank you for the suggestions and feedback, please keep it coming! We make these videos for you so it's great to hear about what you want to see.

P.S. The video has a lot of rapid edits but it's easy to pause at whatever frames interest you.

We hope you enjoy!

New videos

We uploaded a few new videos. "Tahitian Party" and "We Explode?" Both can be seen on our channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCs3WnQG-QeLq1ebfr0gBUhg

"We Explode?" is on track to be our second most popular video so far with almost 8000 views in the first two days.

Do you guys want me to keep posting when we upload new videos? The best thing to do is to click "subscribe" on YouTube but I thought people here would be especially interested to see an Ericson. Plus the offer still stands, if there is something in particular you would like to see please reply to this thread and we'll try to work it in to an upcoming video.

Fair winds!
