New to me E29

Greetings everyone,

I ended up purchasing the E29 I asked you all about a couple of weeks ago. I just finished my maiden voyage in her. What a journey! Started Wednesday before last in Norwalk, Connecticuit and ended in Norfolk, Virginia last night. Unfortunately due mostly to wind direction, I didn't get too much actual sailing time. I traveled through 35MPH wind gusts, seas getting up to 8 feet, and miles after miles of beautiful landscape. My travel route was from Norwalk across the Long Island Sound to the East River, through Hell's Gate, down to the Manasquan Inlet, through Point Pleasant canal, down to Tom's River, out the Barnegat Inlet, hugged the coast to Virginia, where I traveled through an inlet and a series of small channels to come out in the Chesapeake Bay. What an incredible adventure. I started out alone, and picked up my dad in Tom's River. The boat sails wonderfully, and the atomic 4 runs better than I could have asked for. The last day, we motored from 6am until 9:30pm that night without stopping. I will have to take some time off in the near future and get her down to Jacksonville NC. I plan on traveling the ICW. Pictures to follow when I get to my computer. Thank you all for the purchasing advice.

Most of the pictures are from the East River in NYC. The finger, ah yes, I'm still dealing with that. My pinky got trapped in between the anchor line and the boat as I was trying to weigh anchor in Sandy Hook, early one morning. Hope you all enjoy!

You did good, man. Those my old stompin' grounds, and sounds like you hit the tide change in the East River just right (since you weren't washed backwards into a tugboat).

Thanks you sir! It's funny you mention that about a tug. While going through Hells Gate, a good sized barge with tun behind came plowing through and created some monster waves for the little canal. Sent me jumping them for about a minute.

I was planing on going through great bridge, but my command rejected my leave request. Looks like I may be keeping her in Norfolk for a while.

what ever happened

to freedom of the seas. they're probably on increased alert status in the wake of the Paris tragedy. Are u going to haul it out?; might not be a bad place; maybe a 2 hour drive to work on it thru the winter; get ready for spring.

When i sailed her down from CT I knew there was no getting that approved so i may have left out key details in my request. This time i was fully honest, they didnt like the alone part. I had submitted it before the Paris tragedy. She was hauled out and cleaned the week I bought her, I dont see a need to haul her for the winter as I plan to sail every weekend with decent weather, definitely some projects though. I will probably end up anchoring her next to the hampton beidge tunnel in that little cove with a couple other sailboats.

Congrats, the good thing about an adventure like that is now you both have an idea what the other can do. Good bonding experience. Fair winds.
