Replacing gear shift cable in Universal M25

Kadima

I am replacing a broken gear shift cable on my 88 Ericson 34-2. I have not yet removed the broken cable and was hoping to order the replacement. For those who have already accomplished this replacement...what length cable was necessary? Also, how is the cable removed from the transmission?

Gear shift cable replacement

I did this on my 32-200 7 or 8 years ago, looked up my old post. I used Teleflex 17 foot cable and it was more than long enough. 32-200 is same layout as your 34 just shorter. You will see the threaded end of the cable on the tranny shift lever, it is held in place with a nut.
Good luck,
Clayton
