Hi Guys,
I'm thrilled to now be an Ericson 27 owner. The previous owner had her for less than a year, knew nothing about sailing and just used her as a place to sit and look at the water. Probably because the owner before her had disconnected a broken shift cable, and she had no idea how to replace it. All that history taken care of... I am having trouble figuring out how the Engine end of the shift cable is mounted. The U shaped connector that the end of the cable to the shift lever is a no-brainer. But the bracket that holds the Cable sleeve is the issue.
It looks like there is a long bracket projecting aft from the engine block with two holes in it... this bracket is more than a foot long which seems excessive. I have found what I believe to be the hardware the PO used to clamp the cable, but it is nothing more than a household electrical conduit bracket. I'm looking for someone who had it set up correctly so I can fix this.
Please help if you've got an atomic 4 as I'm sure all the Engine end brackets would have been set up the same (except for my jury rigged one).
Thanks in advance.
