Caught this on line:

http://www.breakingnews.com/item/2014/08/28/photo-damage-seen-from-high-surf-in-catalina-isla/

and this:

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...na-island-hurricane-marie-20140827-story.html

I spoke to a friend on the island and it sounds like a large amount of beams that were in the boat yard were moved by the waves and took out some of the stands holding the boats.

Be safe. There is going to be a ton of garbage in the channel...

Is that an Ericson laying on Pebbly beach? Hard to tell, but it looks kinda like a 27.

The last time I took my dinghy for a ride up to Pebbly Beach back in 2010, there was a E-27 anchored off the beach. I have seen it listed in both sailboatlisting.com for years. Photo showed it anchored off the island somewhere. It was in fair shape when I saw it last, but covered with a lot of bird droppings. Lots of other derelict boats anchored around there. I wonder if it's the same boat and it broke anchor?

Here's the ad. http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/19096

Jeff,

It's not the boat in the ad. This boat has green canvas and a white stick. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but that cove stripe looks very much Ericson to me. I'm
pretty sure it's a 27.

Take a look on Google maps at Pebbly beach. There is absolutely no protection there. Why you would put a yard there or anything else for that matter is beyond me.
Avalon harbor is barely tolerable during a south swell, and anything east of lovers cove is pure open roadstead in my book. Nature wins eventually, every time.
