"Maidentrip"

I watched "Maidentrip" last night and thoroughly enjoyed it, in part because Laura Dekker is so darn cute and cocky. :egrin: I am sure she did do the circumnavigation solo, but I would have liked to see more of Laura actually working the boat. I assume she was too busy when she was hoisting sails, taking in a reef, navigating or anchoring and docking to film herself.

All and all, a much better film than Abby Sunderland's "Wild Eye's. How young do you think the next solo circumnavigator will be? :0

Netflix. I put in my queue back when it was in theaters. That's a trick I use to get Netflix as soon as they are released on DVD.

Wow what a story! Hard to believe her dad let her do this but she did it!

The fact that she continued on after finishing reminds me of Bernard Moitessier. All those months alone and you don't need anyone anymore. Just keep on going.

Thanks Jeff

Glad you enjoyed it. The next sailor teenage girl movie will be Jessica Watson's "True Spirit" due out in 2015. I read somewhere that Nicole Kidman might be playing Jessica's Mom. Fitting because she's Australian.

Just watched the movie. Well done. I down loaded from iTunes for 10 dollars.

Great story, remarkable young girl. Well worth it!

I watched this just last week. Also on Netflix. I also started watching Wide Eyes, The Amy Sunderland Story. I didn't finish watching that one because I ended up falling asleep. Maidentrip was a much better documentary all around. I googled Laura Dekker and apparently she still lives aboard Guppy in New Zealand.
