I've been reluctant to show any pictures of my boat on the Ericson site because of the sacreligious round ports. Anyway, this is my 1968 Ericson 30, picture taken a year ago after a complete tear-down and rebuild.

Sacreligious ports or not, that is a gorgeous restoration, PDX! Top notch work. Do you have more pics? I would love to see more of the interior.

Doug:

No way I could have had a result like that working on my own. The painting was done by a very accomplished pro who used automotive paint covered with a clearcoat topcoat.

As for the interior, it was completely gutted and redone. Cosmetically the interior is pretty generic with an aft galley and forward opposing settees, which is the same as the original layout. The important interior changes are infrastructural. The mast support beam was eliminated and replaced with a compression post. In order to accommodate the position of the compression post (and enlarge the head so that it was less of a torture chamber) the main cabin bulkheads were moved and replaced with full ring bulkheads. Also, a homemade TAFG support arrangement was done in the bilge (I submitted pictures in an earlier post).

I don't have pictures of the completed interior. The best I can do is a shot taken from the cockpit through the companionway. It was before we had cushions:

Launched and almost ready for 2016

New halyards before I bend sails, then scrub and Woody Wax the deck. Spring Cove marina Rock Hall, Md. I'll work on that teak on the no wind days.

Sparkle on the bow

Gee she is a pretty girl. Bending sails when the new VPC halyards are ready (replacing rope and wire).

New Boat

Just bought Ericson 35 #282.

She needs some work but I think she's going to be a very good boat for me. :-D

SV Priya Rigged for Blue Water

These shots are from Priya's trip up the coast from Half Moon Bay, CA to Seattle, WA last month. It took nearly a year to make the offshore mods, and it was well worth it!

Very nice. I've made the trip a number of times, but not on my Ericson. How was your weather .. how many stops and where .. how far offshore ? Most trips we stopped in Brookings and Westport staying within 25 miles of Ca and Oregon to 60 miles or so off Washington. Our trips were later toward fall. Ship traffic pretty busy at Columbia River, the rest was fine.

It took a month to get to Port Townsend, where the boat is now getting some well-earned TLC. We stopped at Bodega Bay, Crescent City, Coos Bay, Newport, Tillamook Bay and Neah Bay. There were five overnight passages (including an aborted attempt at Cape Mendocino) plus one three-day passage. We mostly stayed outside the 300-foot contour to avoid the crab pots and didn't get more than about 25 miles offshore. Going in May worked well, as weak lows and fronts provided some perfect southerlies. There were two one-week stays in port waiting for crew and weather windows. Nine days of sailing, and the rest motoring.

On the trip south last July we angled out to 100-miles offshore from Neah Bay. It was a seven-day ride to Bodega Bay, including some exciting gale surfing off Cape Mendocino. The boat performed well overall, though I'd recommend a few structural enhancements. The 210 sq ft solent jib made a big difference upwind, keeping her on her feet in winds above 20 kts.

My recently acquired 1984 E28+

Here's some pics of my newly acquired E28+ in San Diego. Just moved her over from Fiddler's Cove in South San Diego Bay to Mission Bay. One thing that sold me on this boat was that the "to do" list is relatively small. She's in great shape, all I really need to do is make her my own.

I had never seen our boat's entire side view before our slip move. I think she has lovey lines!
