E34 in the San Juans

Nothing special, just a couple of snaps of my E34 in Fisherman Bay, Lopez Island, and Doe Bay, Orcas Island. Pictures like this really appealed to me back in the days when I was a land-locked international civil servant, thinking about what I would do when I retired...

Crossing the Strait

I "buddy-boated" across the Strait after the Rendezvous with Mike and Esther of "Finally Free!" (a sistership 32-3), and they sent this great photo.

Weekend trip to Langley

Took the kids over to Langley to pick up my wife from the Ragnar race. Great sail especially with these knuckle heads on the rail.

Hi from a new guy

Excited to finally say that a fellow forum-goer and I closed the sale on this beautiful Ericson 32-3 today, and I am now not just a wannabe-lurker but a fellow Ericson owner! As a friend said, "Congrats and condolences." I have a lot of projects I can't wait to tackle, but am also looking forward to sailing her in the meantime!

Congratulations! Beautiful boat for sure.
The wife and I love our Ericson. They have such beautifil lines and sail so nice. We're anchored at Mobjack Bay off the Chesapeake Bay. We'll be pulling up anchor in a bit and sailing across to Cape Charles.
Hope you make wonderful memories with your new to you sailboat.

Our thoughts are with all those suffering from hurricane Florence. Virginia so far has been spared. We went down late one evening last week to strip all the canvas and sails, then had Osprey hauled out early last week thinking we would get some storm, but it totally missed our river. We have used the time on shore to make some canvas repairs, I adjusted the Autoprop and sewed the Ericson emblem onto the stack pack. Spent this weekend reinstalling the dodger, stack pack and main. She'll go back in the water later this week.

Testing a used genoa that I picked up from Minney's Yacht Surplus. At 233 sq ft. it is 10% larger area than my old genoa. It is also raised off the deck about 1.5 feet so that I can now see a lot better. I realize my main halyard needs a quick tightening here but I was being lazy ;)

What else are you supposed to do in Seattle after a snowstorm?

Lost my phone overboard on this one, didn't get a lot of pics because the winds picked up to whitecap-level and I had a lot to do, singlehanding a slippery boat :)

We had a wonderful cruise this past weekend and gunkholed in some beautiful places along the ICW. Here are some photos at sunset.

Two photos for show and tell of our '73 E32-II....

First one is a rendering I did from a sunset photo taken while crossing the Grand Bahamas Bank between Bimini and the Berry Islands back in '74.

Bahamas Sunset 74.jpg

The Second one was taken last summer showing exterior updates that include a new (used) bow pulpit with double life lines, PlasTeak handrails, a larger leather wrapped wheel and Eva Teak application to the cockpit seating and floor/sole areas.

I got some pictures of GLIDE in the out processing area of boat jail. Plenty of time for pictures as the launch crew splashed us at 3:30 and went home hoping for the best. We had to wait until 5:20 for high tide which turned out to yield only 6 feet on this day. You'll notice in the last picture that there are no dock lines needed as we draw 6'4". The creek bottom is soft mud so a 1/4 mile furrow was carved in the bottom during the escape.

I, for one, would like to see more pictures of everyone's boats :) not quite the season yet?

Moored in Bell Harbor last night, downtown Seattle. Brought the boat over from Bainbridge Island so I could sail some co-workers around in the evening, then figured -- why sail back across? Everything I own is right here.
