Following a link on another site forum, I emailed the author and then bought his book. The package just arrived a couple days ago.

I have been reading about all the ports he visited and like his small-boater outlook.
Photos are B&W, and of course would be nicer in color. Still, it's aimed at a small slice of a niche market and it's kind of a wonder to have it published at all.
Copyright is 2005, so the info may be dated in places, but based on my limited knowledge of some small Washington ports that I have visited, not much changes over time.

Little cruising guides like this are very helpful. Noting that he did his trip in a customized Coronado 25, I recall that about 20 years ago an acquaintance of mine single-handed his Cal-34-1 up from SF to Astoria without ever spending a night at sea. He would just anchor behind a headland and (after probably sleeping with one eye open some nights) be on his way early the next morning.

So there you are.

Happy trails,
