Hello Everyone I'm planing my winter project already...Rewiring my 35-2 completely. It's time to bring her up to date. Any suggestions on which brand of panel? Or panels to stay away from? Any help is appreciated. Steve.

The industry leader for re-fits (if not for original builds) seems to be these guys:

Lots of different sizes/prices. The site also has a lot of helpful information.

We saw one!

There was a restored E-35-2 at the June rendezvous, and we were so smitten that we must have spent an hour aboard just admiring the workmanship. I do not remember the panel, per se, but since everything else was so nice, I bet it was also.

Perhaps some other owners can chime in with photos or links to other threads here. I know that, over the years, there have been some good electrical renovations reported on this site.

Best,
Loren

Blue Sea Panels

I'm still in process of updating my 35-2 as well. I installed Blue Sea panel #8068 (13 positions + analog voltmeter and ammeter) for my DC devices. It's worked out quite well.

I still have to install panel #8043 for my AC devices (it's still sitting in a box), but planning to tackle that in the next month or so.

Here's the DC panel #8068 page:

Also, note that this unit ships with only 10 breakers. I bought an additional three 15A breakers to accomodate the additional DC devices I had on board.

I'm building my own panel from scratch. A friend fabricated a black anodized aluminum panel that fits in my space, and I'll be drilling it once more urgent projects are completed. I've taken ideas from BlueSea panels, but this will be a custom fit, both dimensionally and functionally. And, I'll save more than $1,000 compared to off-the-shelf models with similar capacity.

I have a Bass products panel on my Caliber. These folks are great to deal with and have very nice products. Not as big as Bluesea but I think that is better. Their panels take the same breakers as Bluesea.

When I redid the panel on our old boat (about 10 years ago now) I had a guy from near Port Townsend (http://www.polarispanels.com/?) who made up a very nice, quality custom panel for us at a fraction of the price we could have bought one off the shelf for.
