The Refitting of TRIOCHA- Bulkhead Rebuild

Rate this Entry
With the interior gutted and in a pile on the floor and the bilge finally cleaned of it's grease and oil, It was time to start the bulkhead rebuild. We started at the bow and using the story stick method traced the shape of the hull onto a story board which then was transferred onto 18mm marine plywood. the bulkheads were through tabbed to the hull then further fillet tabbed. I added some weatherstripping foam to edges to lift the bulkheads off the hull an 1/8th of an inch to prevent hardspots. The original sole was an integrated floor pan which limited bilge access. To remedy this I build stringers that were epoxied into place in the bilge that would support the new removable sole plates, giving 100% access to the bilge. Once all the bulkheads were in the settee, quarter berth, dinette and V-berth were built. I used exterior plywood to build these components as they will not come into contact with the bilge.
