    Forepeak Hull Ceilings Completed

Recently we did the final part of the project to install new insulated hull ceilings in the forepeak. As noted here previously, we used honeycomb panels from from the former Boeing Surplus Store in...

    Cleat Project Finished

The new cleats are all in and luckily they covered up the epoxy filled holes left from the prior smaller cleats.
The only finishing detail left for another day is gel coating the filled-in holes...

Yet another fixed port thread. Assembly

I initially removed one of the small forward ports and took it to a local glass shop. They assured me that they could order-in replacement glass, and the total would be about $12 to maybe $40 for...

Yet another fixed port thread. Removal

This project was from a past season, but there seem to be a fresh crop of the perennial questions lately. I'm not sure if the photos I took add anything to the topic or not. The portlites on my...

    New Deck Mooring Cleats

The unusually snowy winter halted all of my winter projects for several months, and I got going on this cleat upgrade in March.
While most EY boats of this size have fairly large cleats on each...

boom vang attachment - threads stripped

I think the idea of the bars is a good one as I was somewhat daunted by the curved plate fabrication. But, I will go with aluminum bars drilled and tapped

    VHF cable?

Thanks for the link. I looked at that page and a bunch of others and needed my dad to translate it into normal people speak. I went ahead and got it.

I'll bet there,s some regret there. Ugly! Like I said before, sometimes another boat is the right decision.

boom vang attachment - threads stripped

The idea of using threads to hold a solid vang onto a boom seems fundamentally flawed. Pop rivets are going to loosen too.

    VHF cable?

    e29 Standing Rigging replacement

    You asked:

Has any one had a rigger advise them to install anything different than what is existing when replacing the shrouds/stays?

    VHF cable?

I think the RG58 is pretty standard. FWIW when I changed mine (last week) I went with a low loss LMR-400 cable.

boom vang attachment - threads stripped

Your intuition is correct. However, it does depend on the direction of the load.
This is a situation where the attachment is really not suitable
