    New Inverter

I added a new inverter to the boat this past weekend. I had a cheep cobra inverter but I didn't trust it to not catch on fire and also to not ruin the mackbook pro. I chose the Xantrex 600 watt...

Time is Fluid (mast re-hab, part 3 of 3)

At Christian’s recommendation, I called Buzz Ballenger and asked about his “spar seal” product. This is basically a polymer-based sealer that protects the pores in an anodized spar and keeps it...

Time is Fluid (mast re-hab, part 2 of 3)

Next phase of the project was to replace lights and wiring. Most of that wasn’t very dramatic, thanks to the design of the Kenyon spar that Ericson used in this era. It is a beautiful design –...

    E-32 Folding Transom Ladder

My winter project is finally mounted on the boat! You may not be able to see it easily in the photos, but the bottom wooden step has a two step stainless steel folding ladder bolted to it. Here's...

"Thelonious II" -- Fuel Tank Inspection Ports -- Five-Minute Video

I use the engine to charge the batteries, and although there is solar capability on the new boat, I want the engine to run after rough weather has shaken the fuel tank like a rag doll and left arms,...

    Air Filter?

Pat: My M-12 does not have an element inside of the air intake canister. I found no evidence that it ever did have one. Just a coarse screen.

    Drip less stuffing box??

Apparently some versions of older dripless shaft seals came without the vent. They make do with water from the shaft log, and need to be "burped"

    E35-2 Exhaust

    Hi Brad,

Your configuration may be exactly correct. In general, you want to get the water mixing with the hot exhaust as soon as possible.
