Chris,
If your boat is afloat, you will typically have no concerns until the temps get into the upper 20's, AND the interior temperature drops to the same level. Remember that the liquid water temp. will be considerably higher, like 40ish.
So the bilge area will be above freezing...
Now if you get winds that pull heat out of the interior, especially the aft end around the laz. hatch and vents, then the engine area could get down to freezing sooner than the main bilge.
A drop to 32 degrees does not unduly alarm me, but as the nights get below that at all, I want to have the raw water side of the engine winterized. In any sustained cold snap I also want the drinking water system drained/pumped dry, too.
Lots of folks like to depend on electric heaters to keep their boat interiors above freezing, but likely as not there will be a power outage exactly when the temps are lowest.
Sounds like it's about time for you guys to winterize...
