Hi all. We just bought an Ericson 30-2 (Seabiscuit). Love this boat!
She came with combi depth / speed instruments that have long given up the ghost. I've been searching the forum for information about installing a depth sounder transducer and I've found a lot of good information, but I have a 30-2 specific question. Does anyone know if a 30-2 came standard (or had the option) for an in-hull transducer well?
When we hauled Seabiscuit I noticed that she appeared to have a small well protruding from the bottom of the hull. It does not look like a thru-hull fairing, it looks like it is glassed in.
Similar to this (but fiberglass and faired): http://www.ericsonyachts.org/infoexchange/attachment.php?attachmentid=6392&d=1267319710
There is a wood block on the interior side that is clearly holding a transducer vertical. The wood block may be epoxied in place. I'm 90% sure that this is for an in-hull fitting not a thru-hull fitting, but that 10% uncertainty has us a bit on edge.
I'd love to reuse it if i got it. Any idea?
