Ash fall at Cabrillo Marina

Those with boats at Cabrillo Marina may want to come wash your boats this weekend. The fire at Portuguese Bend dropped ash all over the place last night.

I just washed my boat Wednesday.

It was pretty strange. Nancy and I were sitting on the deck talking about the hassles of having work done when you can't keep an eye on the worker. We heard lots of sirens and assumed there had been some bad accident or a brawl. Then we noticed something on the deck, a 6" pine needle ! We turned on the spreader lights and there was ash all over.

Once we got out to Catalina we spent Saturday watching the smoke columns and getting reports from our neighbors about how close the fire was. We finally hurried home this AM and it sure looked ominous as we got closer to home.

What a strange weekend.
