Best SoCal wind/weather map ?

Sven

I'd like to start looking at the daily wind and weather from San Diego to maybe 100 miles offshore and up to Santa Barbara Island as we get ready for the Berserker Viking Bash the week of 5-5. Since we might head straight out just to make it a bit of an off-shore cruise before heading north to the Isthmus I'd like to start developing a feel for what the prevailing winds are day and night (if any).

So, is there a good on-line weather chart site for the area ? I normally look at the typical NOAA and related sites but am sure I'm missing some better ones.

Thanks,

-Sven

Sven,
Just pick your area and put the wind or wave or period into motion!

I use this site for our areas all the time.

Also check out http://www.sailflow.com/ It's actually a link at the top of the site I just sent you. You can dial in your exact area. I prefer the first one for a So Cal coastal over view.

Up Hill is the norm coming up the coast from San Diego unless we have a nice comfortable off shore. When I brought my boat up from San Diego back in Nov. of 02, I made the best progress motoring at night after the prevailing winds from the Northwest died down. When I was discussing making the trip with professional Skippers a couple suggested reaching straight for Catalina and not hugging the coast. I did not try that because I was under time constraints.
