Attention Florida sailors. I want to call your attention to an article in the January 2009 issue of Southwinds Sailing. On page 35 there is an article about new anchoring restrictions being proposed by the FWC. You can read the article on the Southwinds site www.southwindsmagazine.com. Once again the local governments are attempting to restrict “navigation” rights by intimidating boaters. Courts have ruled repeatedly that state and local governments may not limit anchoring but the wealthy and influential waterfront property owners are once again trying to make it hassle to exercise that right. I suggest that you contact your state representatives and senators.
