I wonder if Seth is on Karma - they seem to be leading their section. Really slow race, hope the flys weren't out!

Not only is the race slow, the site takes forever to load.:( Cool link though, dang missed another one. Looks like Mother Nature's preparing a welcoming commity for those that haven't already finished.;)

Hi Frank,

Yep, we got the band back together for our 4th section win in the 36.7 section in 5 years (dropped out last year) on board Karma.

Amazing section (24 identical boats) and very close racing.

Interesting race in that the weather models were completely off-the pattern was so unstable that predictions had very low probability. Most routing info suggested staying W of RL and working North as much as possible, but I felt the likelihood of the predicted NW breeze filling NW-SE at the time we would be up there was slim, so we worked the shifts we had at the time-opening up an 8 mile lead on our section in the wee hours of SUN am. Then it was straight forward-took a tack back to consolidate and stay between the fleet and the finish-which we managed to do succesfully.
This also helped us to a 3rd overall finish (as well as first in section).

Especially sweet as this was the 100th running of the race!

Cheers,
S

congrats Seth - great finishes in overall and in section. bunch of guys from our marina did the Hook race and said it was slow, and that (as you said) the weather was not at all as predicted.

I know at least one boat from our marina droped out of the Mac as things were slow and they did not think they would finish in time.
