Hello everyone out there. I am interested in purchasing an ER23MI (1968)
The boat looks like she's in pretty good shape yet I do not know anything about these little yachts.
I live in San Francisco and it's windy here so I am wondering if this is a tough little boat.

Thanks!

Hey Scott, Welcome aboard! :egrin:

What you're looking at is a MKI, the early version. From what I've heard the MKI is a very tough boat. You may want to contact a current owner as there are 14 registered here.

Owners & Projects (above) >>>Owners/Yacht Registery>>>Ericson 23-1........most owners have contact information, e-mail addressses.

Good Luck w/ your search.

Sail magazine has a nice writeup of the 23--John Kretschmer gives the boat (and the Ericson brand in general) high marks.

Hey thanks guys,
The boat looks like it's been cared for over the years. I'm an experienced sailor in the bay area however, I'm not familiar with the older Ericsons...
I appreciate your comments!

Cheers,
Scott

Scott, An easy thing to miss in the reveiw is that the MK1 has a shorter aspect ratio sail plan(shorter mast) as compaired to the MK2. That would be an added benifit when sailing the bay area. The MK2 is a tad-bit tender.
