Laminating Carbon Fibre

Has anyone got any experience of laminating gucci materials?

I am still working on the question of replacing the carbon steel glassed into the deck under the mast, and at Loren's suggestion have been looking at some carbon fibre from www.mcmaster.com. It would take several layers to have the required stiffness, does anyone know best materials to use - is it as simple as epoxy and a layer of glass in between each sheet?

If you are replacing steel with a laminated substitute why not use a pre-made piece? I know that FRP board is available from McMaster, etc. IIRC its called G10? It is quite likely there is a carbon version as well. Purchase a piece, cut down to size and install like the steel was. RT
