Red White and Blue !

This was taken by a friend several weeks ago at the opening day boat parade here in Portland.
What with today being Independence Day and the display of colors being perfect for the day...

Great looking pair of boats, Loren. "Fresh Air" is rather appropriate for a sailing craft. The exhaust from a sail never smells bad.

We had a good afternoon yesterday in Elliott Bay. We had another couple aboard as crew. The winds ranged from 10-25 knots in a 5 hour sail. Went through the dance from all up, up to a reef in the main, to main only (broad reach in 18-25 gusts). Then on the return we added the jib again and when the wind dropped below 15 for awhile we shook out the reef and finished in 15-17 with the rail in the water. Then we did two good landings. The first was a backing up affair to the pumpout dock on the river end of the marina. Great day.

And did anyone get up and watch the America's Cup races? The last race was really strange and fun to watch. I confess to TiVo, but Ellen actually watched one race live.
