Quick Diesel Engine Question

Hello All!

I have an Ericson 25+ with a Volvo Penta MD5B/110S engine. Couple of quick questions...

1...After replacing injector, engine runs about 30-60 minutes then shuts down gradually. Air is entering the system? After bleeding the system (especially at the injector pump) it runs good again for about 30-60 minutes. Could a leaking pipe or hose cause this?

2...Noticed a knocking sound in rhythm with the engine rpm. Dosen't seem too bad. Do they all do that?

Any help would be appreciated!!

it certainly sounds that it is fuel starved, clogged filters can cause this, and cause you to have to bleed multiple times. Diesels demand clean fuel, and on old boats there is often sediment that needs to be removed from the fuel tank. the sound of knocking is subjective, but they are noisy compared to a gas engine
