Has anyone ever considered adding a battery bank under the floor on an E-29?

There is just enough room in the keel tunnel at the back access panel for two regular sized batteries to be slid in. It would take a little fabrication for tie downs. I know the possibility of the batteries being swamped in the bilge if the water is allowed to rise to the level of 2" below the sole.
I am thinking of a pair of 6V golf cart batteries in the battery box and the two 12V I currently run in the keel tunnel in front of the deep sump.
This would be low and centered weight and a few more amps.

Don't think I would want to run the swamping risk you mentioned. How about the aft lazarette? I had my batteries relocated there because in their original location above the prop shaft I would have to remove them to get to the two thruhulls underneath. Not good in an emergency.

I agree with Paul, not to put them under the floor because of the risk of getting wet. On my E30+, they are in the quarterberth locker. If you do decide to put them under the sole, is there a way that you could enclose them in a sealed plastic box, perhaps with a vent hose out to allow any gases to escape? You would need to make it possible to access them periodically for maintenance, especially if they are wet cell.
