It was too crowed at Two Harbors

It was too crowded at Two Harbors

Here are the few photos I took at Catalina this past weekend with my friend Todd. It was too crowded at Two Harbors to get a mooring, so we went up to Emerald Bay and got one in front of Indian Rock. This is the first time I have been turned away at the Isthmus in four years. It wasn't all bad. It was a half hour dinghy trip each way to Two harbors. The snorkeling was great around Indian Rock. Lots of fish, it looked very tropical. I will send the under water photos I took when I get the film processed.

Catalina Island last weekend.

Jeff and all, Sorry to have missed everyone (I did have my Welsh flag flying). I arrived at Isthmus Cove, Catalina Island around 1130 Thursday and was assigned K16 on the east side. It was a bit lumpy at times but all in all, an OK location. We had several sailing friends from Marina del Rey there to socialize with and we all had a great time. I single handed over Thursday morning leaving around 0600 with guide dog Clark asleep the entire triop over. It was a good time for him to rest as he'd just gotten his "Big Boy" operation two days before. Marilyn came over via the Marina Flyer on Friday night making the stay there even more enjoyable. We plan to go over for Cruisers weekend some time in October if not sooner. Later, Glyn

I did look around a bit for your boat!

Hey Glyn,

I did look around a bit for your boat on one of my Dinghy trips to Two Harbors. My friend and I were trying to figure out what a Welsh flag looked like. We were mainly over on the right side of the Pier. I did run into this guy, Darryl who had a blue E-38. He is one of the Commodores of the Little Ships Yacht Club out of Long Beach. Very nice guy. He has sailed that E-38 to Tahiti!

I will be going to Avalon on the 20th. Blue Oyster Cult Concert at the Casino Ballroom on the 21st. I am getting really worried about getting a mooring now and I already have concert tickets.

Yikes:esad:

What does a Welsh flag look like.

Jeff, We were on the east side of Isthmus Cove, to the left of the pier as you look at it from the water. To see what a Welsh flag looks like go to this link http://images.google.com/images?q=welsh+flag&hl=en&lr=&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title If you want to see what the flag looked like flying on our boat, contact me back channel at glynjudson@adelphia.net. A friend took a photo of my wife Marilyn last Saturday going up the mast to unwrap a spare halyard that had gotten wound around the starboard spreader. That's me grinding the winch on deck with my friend Steve near the bow tailing the line. Enjoy, Glyn

Oh well ...

The weather that made me think it would be unwise to do a night crossing never materialized, at least it didn't look like nighttime rain and fog on Friday-Saturday night ?

I still had to rush off to JSC on Monday (and am still here) so it would still have been a bit too hectic to be enjoyable.

Oh well, next time !

Wow, that trip to Emerald Cove was eight years ago. I have explored a lot more of the Island since then, although not finding the time to get over there as often as I did lately.

Beam winds to you "rbonilla".
