rudderstock

Does anyone have info on the actual diameter of the rudderstock of a 1986 38-200? I know I can measure it but if I have the true specs it can eliminate error. I need it for a tiller arm fabrication.
Thanks

A measuring idea...

I had this problem some years ago with comfirming the OD of the prop shaft on our '88 Olson. At the time I did not own a caliper so I used the parralel (sp.) rule off the nav. table...
I held the parralel rule on the shaft, and measured across between the plastic edges. Worked "like a charm" as the saying goes.

On Mean Jean, I re-did my rudder bearing with West System. I was going to replace the bronze bearing but decided not to. Anyway, I took my rudder out and miced the shaft, it had a 4" O.D. I'm not sure but I think your 38 may have the same DIA. shaft.
