It has been so nice on the bay recently, I was thinking we should start planning another raftup, perhaps Angel Island this time?

We would love to get together with other Ericson sailors. We are in the process of installing Radar / Chartplotter and would love to be completed in the next month. Let us know when you are thinking. Angel Island would be a great setting and is one of our favorites.:egrin:

Sounds like fun. How about the weekend of March 11th or 18th? Or were you thinking of something bigger planned deeper into the summer?

I was thinking sooner than summer, March 18th sounds good to me.
I have never spent the night at Angel Island so looking for some help here.
Or if there is a better place thats cool too.

At Angel Island we could either moor inside Ayala Cove or anchor along the east side at China Beach. Melissa and I have spent many nights anchored at China Beach, but never spent the night in Ayala Cove. I think for the purposes of a group raft-up that Ayala Cove would be the better of these two locations. The only points to consider are 1) there is a fee (I believe about $20), and 2)we would need to arrive relatively early on Saturday to guarantee a spot.

Another nice spot nearby is anchored along the Marin Shore around Paradise Cove -- assuming westerly weather.

Anyone else interested in doing this?

We are down to the short strokes on the 46, headliner, 4 stantions, and the propane box. However I have given up on telling people when the boat will be done.

March 18th should be completely doable for us. Then again I set up last years rendeveau, and was unable to attend do to my deciding to add significantly to the project.

I might head over Friday night and grab a bouy for Aiki.

Lets make it happen for March 18th. Moonglow will attend, and I should be able to overnight this time. See ya all there. Ryan

Melissa and I will be there... as long as their is no big storm rolling through that weekend. Looking forward to it.

Yes, it sounds like we will want to meet in Ayala Cove on Angel Island on Saturday the 18th. Let's keep our fingers crossed for good weather.

We are new to the groups activity, and would like to join the raft up at Ayala on the 18th. We have been there a couple of times, and always enjoyed the stay.

Count us in. Will we actually be able to raft up or do we each have grab a mooring?

Good question. I'm not certain if this is allowed, but I would imagine that if we grabbed two moorings near each other, we could then raft-up in-between them.

There is no problem with a raft grabing four moorings as I have been in rafts in Ayala cove with that configuration. See ya there, looking forward to the action. Ryan

I know it's still a ways off, but the weather for next weekend is looking like it should be good. We're looking forward to seeing all of you in Ayala Cove.

We plan on being there, but for other reasons. In our cruising group there are many March birthdays and we always go somewhere to celebrate. We planned on Alaya Cove much earlier, but may change if it's too crowded. I'm going to try to be in two places (groups) at once if all works out.

We stopped by around 1 on Sunday but everyone was gone. What a great day of sailing. Winds around 20, lots of sun, and great friends aboard. I got a sunburn (maybe a windburn.) Sounds like more rain this week. God it was great to get out. I will do better about joining the group next time.

Best wishes for a fast arrival of spring.

Hi David,

Sorry we missed you. Saturday we had four Ericsons rafted together. There was also one additional Ericson in Ayala Cove who was mostly there with other boating friends, but he joined us for a bit of the happy hour. I believe everybody had a good time together as we shared hors doeurves, drinks and stories. Both Saturday and Sunday were georgous weather-wise.

Saturday night was fairly rough being tied up together. A decent North wind had picked up which directed some wave action right into the cove. Sometime around midnight or 1:00 AM we had a bit of a firedrill. Melissa and I were going nuts with the sounds of boats on both sides creaming their fenders into Pacifica's hull. It got bad enough that we were getting concerned about the possibility of some actual damage from one boat doing a bit of a bucking bronto routine on the weather side. We felt really bad about it, but had to rouse the owners (though I'm sure they were already awake) and help them move to a different mooring. Fun stuff - but all agreed a relief once it was done. Sunday morning we awoke to beatiful dead flat calm conditions.

On Sunday morning our dog Matey was anxious for a dinghy ride to the little beach just east of Ayala Cove. This spot is apparently the one bit of land on Angel Island that you are allowed to take your dog ashore for play and poop. You can only get there by dinghy. As we left the beach and started to head back into Ayala Cove, I thought it might be fun to take advantage of the flat calm conditions and fly across Racoon Straits for a close-up tour of the homes on the water. That was all well and good, however almost immediately after we started to head back the outboard had a conniption fit and refused to run any more. This of course means that I got to row back all the way across Racoon Straits with a wife and dog in an inflatable dinghy (which is not known for it's performance in rowing conditions). Luckily their was a fairly slack current at the time, so we were not washed out to sea.

Thanks to Corkhead (Julian) for taking the initiative to get this thing going. we look forward to the next one (in a hopefully more protected sleeping situation).

Gregg,
You won't belive this, Julie and I decided to get going Sunday morning so I boarded Pacifica to say goodbye to you and Melissa and manage the lines. You were gone so we figured you had taken Matey for a romp on the east side of AI.
We took off in that direction. I looked around for your dinghy and mentioned to Julie that I saw someone rowing way over by Tiburon, we thought no way and continued. So I guess it was you afterall!! Hope the outboard is OK.

We had a great ime, except for the 4 or 5 hours of rocky, bangy, noisy stuff.
Julie was exhausted by the time we got back to South Beach, I on the otherhand was drooling over the 15-20 knots of wind and a sunny sky. I elected to take the train home, Julie took the car. What a great day on the BAY.

It was good to meet you Bob, Phyllis & Ryan & Jonah too.

Lets keep in touch. I would really like to go to Drakes or HMB later this year.
