mast step bracket

I have seen mounting brackets at the mast base for the purpose of attaching blocks to run halyards and control lines aft. My '76 E35-2 mast is deck stepped and I'm not certain how a bracket would be mounted or where to find one. Any 35-2 owners out there who have done so?

I never could find a commercially available step plate with the size and features I wanted for my E27, so I ended up making my own. I'm not sure whether the E35 is the same design, but my mast sits on a cast aluminum step that is screwed to the deck. The plate I made is now sandwiched between that casting and the deck and has holes that match the original fastener locations and cable feed throughs.

I realize not everyone has the resources to make something like this, but if you don't get any specific suggestions as to where to find one to fit your boat, there are specialty manufacturers like Tops in Quality (810-364-7150) that probably could make what you need.

The plate and sketch showing what I did can be seen at http://www.usfamily.net/web/wadolujo/Pictures_Sailing.html

The scan of the original sketch is not very clear. If you want, I could send a fax.
