Ketch Runs Aground

Yesterday our VHF rang with a DSC call from a vessel in distress. We were at anchor when a friend arrived on his Sabre 34 and told us he saw this nice Cal 35' ketch hard aground in Pensacola Pass. We hopped in the dinghy and went down the beach to see.

Seatow told the captain that they would charge $400 per foot to pull it off. Tow boat US was also onsite and actually got her off after four harrowing hours.

We we have towing insurance through Seatow (have for 4 years). This was a case for making sure you are covered.

I get a youtube message saying the video is private.
Sounds like a crazy day though.

That is "absolutely terrible". I've had Vessel Assist, now Boat US since 2002. Only had to use it twice in all those years, nothing like this situation, just engine troubles. I knew it was expensive to get towed, but $400. per foot, Wow! :0
