The Hiscocks Documentary

In addition to their many books, the Hiscocks made a film of their round-the-world voyage on Wanderer III.

The film is really awfully good old chap, not only for the sailing and the stiff upper lip, but for the social attitudes common to the yachting class in the early 1950s.

I was just reading "Cruising Under Sail" last week! Good old book to flip through while anchored out.

Quite exciting, I say the cinematography was astounding and the dialog was quite compelling. Poor Brit attempt.

Really was like "All is Lost" without a hole in the boat, slow and not entertaining but worth watching for some unknown reason.

Rather delightfully understated.

I love minute 54:50 when Mr Hiscock pulls himself up the mast on muscle power alone (or have I missed Susan sweating the winch behind the camera?). Not only would I be very unable to do that, but I don't know any sailor who could ...
