ALl, What is a Coleman hook and what is it used for? I just got beautiful one made by Wilcox Crittenden long ago given to me from David (Emerald, E31) of this list and neither he or I can figure out what they do. The 2 eyes were usually connected through a block. It appears that lifting with the block would hold the short piece fast at the eye pin on the longer piece and keep it closed. I would speculate that it would be a quick release hook for a dock line telegraph line or cargo netting or some such. A bit of searching the net yielded a few pictures but no descriptions of a use. I am looking forward to our expert types giving the real answer. Edd
