E32-2 The Rehab of Fashion Show

Spring 2020 Phase 1

Cabin interior

It's Spring 2020 in Chicago. Covid has closed everything down. I'm working remotely so I have the time to work on my boat. Where to start. The marina said that the engine is in good shape since they have been taking care of it since the previous owner abandoned it in 2016. They were hoping to sell her so they kept it running. Since the boat is uncovered and Chicago's weather is very unpredictable, I decide to start to remove the rotted cabinet and wall on the portside of the cabin interior. This will keep me out of the elements and I can begin my journey of where all the leaks are on the boat. I wasn't sure if I would be able to find replacement parts, so I was careful when removing screws, wood, etc. to try to keep as much as I can to reuse. The pictures above show the condition when I started. Luckily the spacers attached to the hull where not rotted. I cleaned the whole area with acetone then applied a couple of coats of Kilz to prevent further mold.
