signet mast head wind speed failing

The original (1987) signet mast head wind speed instrument has stopped reporting speed. It was working intermittently until a few months ago and now reads 0 in winds up to 20+. The direction indicator still works.

I'm wondering if others with this gear have had similar experience and have fixed it themselves?

Well, one way to look at this is that if it worked from '87 to now, it does not owe you anything!
It might be well to call Signet and see if the replacement is compatible with your instrument read-out and cabling.

Thanks for the link. A few years back a rigger sprayed some lube in it. I was hoping to eek out bit more time from it before I think about replacing.
