Securing wood block to deck without screws (chimney mount)

Hi all,

I'm looking to secure a varnished wood block to my deck (likely sanded nonskid) to FINALLY complete my chimney rebuild project. I would rather not screw it into the deck as it shouldn't have to withstand much abuse, and I think the screws were what previously caused water ingress and its slow deterioration. So, I'm thinking of using 4200 or something similar to adhere it to the deck. Has anyone done something similar or what should I be concerned about here?

That's what I'd do. Ought to stick to the nonskid pattern easily, even unsanded.
