Refitting a 1973 E32-2, Was removing rudder, and entire packing sleeve( ? nomenclature) inside of boat comes off of ...Only a 1.5" flange of fiberglass inside, only one of the hose clamps,of 4, on the Furnco(rubber) collar fitting was or would be holding it in place...Not much of a seal in any seas... Any suggestions..?? Extending the fiber flange of hull seems needed,, anyone dealt with this. ? upgrade to bearing sleeve.?. worried about angle, of new flange pipe, to post flange in cockpit.. Colorado sailor and land locked for input... Any total refit info welcome.. boat has new engine and the interior is in good shape, but rigging and deck are rough

Hard to picture exactly what you're describing. Maybe you can post a couple of pics ? Not sure how that model was built, on mine there is a fiberglass tube that is glassed to the hull and extends up above the waterline. There is a collar/bearing on top with packing to seal the tube to rudder post. Maybe someone with similar model will chime in. Do you have wheel steering or tiller?

Yes, photos. Your sleeve (packing gland?) is different from later models, but there should be a way of reattaching it.

Early 32s looked like this (from archives):
