Replacing cabin sole

I need to replace the cabin sole on my 38-200. I’m looking for someone in the Mobile area or Gulf Coast who does good work at reasonable cost. I would appreciate any recommendations.

I'd ask for a recommendation from a boatyard first--a freelance boat mechanic. But any carpenter/handyman can do the job.

It will lower the cost if you remove the sole sections yourself and take them to a carpentry shop for exact reproduction. Getting the existing sole out is a big labor job. Using the existing sections as templates means no patterns needed and less fitting later.

This is a good job to take on yourself if possible over the winter. Will take time to source the veneer plywood, require multiple trips to the boat, CPES , varnish, which will make the estimate from any knowledgeable carpenter surprisingly high.
