New Davits

After three years of weighing the pros and cons we installed davits last week. I know there was discussion here about the boat squatting but we see no negative effects. They are Garhauer and are vey sturdy.

Of course we will stow the dinghy on the foredeck or folded up below for offshore sailing. So far so good!

Rick,

Looks great. We have been very happy with Garhauer products.

Best of luck with the setup.

Mounting

Hi Rick,

Do you mind posting some photos of how the davits are mounted and supported?

Hi Rick,

I don't currently have any pics of that but I will take some next time I'm at the boat.

They are supported by SS bases that are bolted through the stern cap and fiberglass. Then there are mounts that are attached to the pushpit railing.

It seems very strong, I don't see any flex in the rail. Our 8" inflatable is very light at less than 75 lbs.

Here is a photo of the railing bracket and the lower bracket on the stern rail. I had them send me the rectangular one because their round base hung off the back of the stern cap.

Here is a shot from yesterday with the davits. I sure wouldn't carry the dinghy offshore in them. :0
