Hi Drew,

my opinion…I like a raymarine i50 hooked up to a triducer that will tell you your speed, depth, water temp etc, and just a single hole in your hull. For costal use you can use phone or iPad to navigate.

RADAR: prob don’t need it, AIS exist, definitely breaks the bank, stay on the “ground” if visibility is poor (or predicted to be).
Wind data: mostly this is for an auto pilot. Are you planning to sail off an autopilot?

nice boat.

I'm in the same spot... My old chartplotter is acting up and now unreliable, so I'm putting in an Axiom 7. On sale for 599.99 last I checked. Since I'm dropping the mast I decided to add the wind vane/cups at the masthead and have the information feed to the Axiom and not spend on the separate unit. I'd have to cut holes for it. One could easily argue that the wind info is overkill but I want to connect it to my autopilot. I thought about radar but for the reasons gabriel noted decided not to.
