The boat I bought a few months ago came with all the parts of an autopilot. The fluxgate and head were still installed and connected but didn't work, it just read 250 degrees no matter what.
I read on this forum (I think) of a guy that fixes these no-longer-made antique things. He wrote me how to test the fluxgate- I did- he wrote it was fine and the problem was the head unit.
I sent it to him in Durango, CO. He repaired it the day he got it. For $112 I got it back the next week. We tested it yesterday on a lovely sail and it works as advertised.
Good work, fast replies and repair, reasonable. I highly recommend him. Ahhh, the beauty of the internet. How would I have ever found him in the old days?
His name is Dan Gerhardt and here is his email: c250@mydurango.net
