Anodizing

I'm just starting the re-bedding process for all of the 6 fixed ports and have wet sanded/compounded/waxed all of aluminum frames and bezels. Being that they are 40 years old, they can only look so good. Has anyone had these pieces re-anodized or better yet, performed the process yourself? if you believe the internet it looks like it can be a DIY activity. I searched the archives, but couldn't find a reference.
