Just converted Scandalous (E27) from gas to electric. Uses four lead batteries and is capable of hull speed. Using a 48 volt system and cost under 5K for the complete conversion. Located in San Diego. :egrin: Anyone considering this, I would be happy to advise. Don at postal6@juno.com

Is anyone aware of any "average man" (aka. affordable)cruising sailboat with a hybrid type propulsion system? The idea of a Prius type system seems to make sense for a 36 foot boat, batteries low and on centerline, an electric propulsion motor and a small diesel.

Hi, I'm thinking about repowering our '77 Ericson-32 (Atomic-4). Did anybody consider repowering with a diesel-electric propulsion system (for example Glacier Bay or similar)? I'm exploring this option as an alternative to a common Diesel engine. Any thoughts or information are appreciated...
