    E38 Rudder Available

Ha! My two kayaks are in a friend's yard for the same reason you want to move yours. At least she is on a lake. We are trying to sell the house and get a bit more property. If that works out you can ship them on down.:)

    E38 Rudder Available

I can not say, Craig. When I purchased Totem (1984 E381 #515) this rudder was given to me with the boat. The broker could not say how it was that a spare rudder came with the boat, and it is my recollection that the previous owner was out of the country and not available to ask. It would have...

    E38 Rudder Available

I have an E38 rudder in central Florida. To my knowledge it is in fine condition. I can not detect any voids by tapping. There is a minor (1/2') gel coat chip in the upper edge. This has been siting in my garage for twelve years, and it is time to find it another home. Bill Burgner

    Adios

Thanks Loren, the Pacific NW is a must see for us. I was born in Seattle and grew up in northern California, so I know the beauty that awaits. Bill

    Adios

It is time to say goodbye to all of the very helpful folks on the Ericson site. After eight years of enjoying our E381 Totem we have sold her to pursue a land based cruising life style in our motorhome. I appreciate the camaraderie and technical assistance that all of you have provided...

    Mounting a life raft

Based on the filled holes evident on the coach roof it looks as though a previous owner mounted a raft forward of the traveler on the port side. I imagine that it was on a rack that would allow lines to run under it to the cockpit.

replacement depth, boat speed and wind speed instruments

Like Loren, I replaced the Signet Marine instruments in 2004 with Raymarine ST60 set. I have since updated the Raymarine autohelm, added radar and C-80 chartplotter. All are integrated and working quite well. The chartplotter/GPS/autohelm combo were a god send on this summer's trip to the Bahamas.

Ericson 38 For Sale - Meticulous Owners

HOAs can be a pain, I agree. Give a shout if you start to consider sailing in the Bradenton to St Pete area. We have kept our boat there for the past eight years might be able to give feedback on marinas, etc.

    What's That Smell

Are you familiar with the smell of heated/burned coolant? It is not the acrid smell of hot rubber or wire insulation. It is almost sweet, but not in a pleasant way. I have had a genset spray a fine jet of coolant on the exhaust riser which filled the engine compartment and lockers with a smoke...

    E38 Bilge Pump Configurations

Final Solution I stuck with the Water Puppy pumps but installed two relays, one for each pump, in the vicinity of the pumps in the starboard cockpit locker. The original wiring from the switches now energizes the relays. Power for the pumps now comes from the DC side of the inverter/charger...

    E38 Bilge Pump Configurations

PAR Pump Thanks Matt and Chris, I missed that good thread last month while cruising the Abacos. Sorry to be redundant. I am not familiar with the PAR pumps, so I will check that out as a water puppy replacement.

    E38 Bilge Pump Configurations

I have been having problems with my electric bilge pump set up and it got me to wondering what others have found to be a bullet proof set up. I am not sure if it is the factory set up, but I have Water Puppy pumps for both the shower sump and bilge located in the starboard cockpit locker...
